Carnivore Preservation Trust
The 55-acre compound is home to approximately 140 animals representing 11 species of threatened and endangered carnivores from around the world. These include tigers, spotted leopards, snow leopards, jaguars, ocelots, servals, caracals, binturongs, and more.

The Duke University Primate Center
Meet the amazing Lemurs of the world renowned Duke Primate Center. This is a unique experience and a chance to learn more about several special species of animals. Tours of the Center are by appointment only, and all visitors to the Primate Center must schedule an appointment in advance of their arrival. Please call at least two weeks in advance of the date you wish to come. To arrange a tour, call (919) 489-3364 and speak to a DUPC staffer.

NC Zoo
Come and explore more than 500 acres which will allow you to see everything from Polar Bears to an authentic African marketplace. The country's largest and finest walk-through, natural-habitat zoo. Open April-September 9am-5pm daily and October-March 9am-4pm daily. $10 for adults and $6 for kids, students, and seniors.

North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher
The Aquarium includes indoor and outdoor exhibits, auditorium, classrooms, meeting rooms, and a gift shop. In addition, there are daily programs featuring live animals, marine life videos and special activities. Open year-round from 9am-5pm daily. Admission prices are $7 for adults, $5 ages 6-17, and free to kids 5 and under.

North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island
The Aquarium offers a wide variety of free programs and activities year-round. Daily programs include marine life videos, live animal programs, audience participation games, demonstrations and more. Live animal programs in the Aquarium auditorium may feature alligators, sea turtles or snakes. Fish in selected tanks are fed daily. The zoo is open year-round from 9am-5pm daily. Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-17, and Free to children 5 and under.

North Carolina Museum of Life and Science
See the best collection of living North Carolina wildlife in the area including alligators, bats, snakes, turtles, owls, fish, an opossum, and a woodchuck. Visit with the black bears, birds of prey, and endangered red wolves. Admission prices are $8.50 for adults, $7.50 for seniors, $6 for ages 3-12, and free under age 3. Hours are Mon.-Sat. 10am-5pm and Sun. 12-5pm.
