Hazarajat Hooked Rug Project is a
joint venture, between Timbuktu Trading Ltd. (Toronto),
Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan (National Office,
Calgary), and
PARSA (Kabul), an Afghan relief organization providing
physiotherapy for Afghan
war victims and support services for Afghan widows.
"Every purchase of a Hazarajat
hooked rug provides significant help to the Afghan woman who made the
rug —an amount equivalent to one-quarter of a typical rural basic
monthly wage. In addition, Timbuktu Trading Ltd. will be contributing
15% of the retail price of $65 towards the Breaking Bread for Women in
Afghanistan project for teacher’s salaries in the Hazarajat region,
where the rugs are being made. "
